So, you want to know what the best Gauntlet recipe in The Forge is? If you enjoy getting up close and personal, gauntlets are the perfect weapon type for you. They’re fast (second only to daggers) and offer solid base damage, making them an excellent choice for builds focused on agility rather than raw power. And if you’re after the absolute best options, I’ve put together a list of the top Ironhand Gauntlet recipes in The Forge.
The Best Recipes For Gauntlets in The Forge
When it comes to Gauntlets in The Forge, there are three variations: the Relevator, the Boxing Gloves, and the Ironhand Gauntlets. Although the Relevator has the highest single-hit damage (9.6 base pre-multiplier), it doesn’t actually offer the best DPS. That honor goes to the Ironhand Gauntlets, which lead the category with a solid 15.20 base DPS.
Thus, even though they’re the most common variant, they’re still the best Gauntlets in the game. That works out great, since they’re also very easy to obtain. By placing 9 Ores into the crucible when crafting, you’ll get roughly a 65% chance to craft the Ironhand Gauntlets, which is an optimal investment (you can't get a better %). With that said, here are the best Gauntlet recipes in The Forge:
| Ores Recipe | Multiplier & Chance | Stats & Traits |
|---|---|---|
| x4 Darkryte x3 Magmaite x2 Eye Ore |

| x3 Darkryte x3 Magmaite x2 Fireite x1 Eye Ore |

| x3 Magmaite x3 Fireite x2 Rivalite x1 Eye Ore |

| x4 Eye Ore x3 Rivalite x2 Ruby |

If you want the highest possible multiplier, Darkryte is a must-have Ore for any Gauntlets recipe. It provides the strongest Ore multiplier in the game (not counting Arcane Crystal Ore and Galaxite, which are, for all intents and purposes, effectively unobtainable).

The first recipe on this list (x4 Darkryte, x3 Magmaite, and x2 Eye Ore) is easily the best option for crafting Ironhand Gauntlets. Darkryte boosts your base DPS, Magmaite adds important AoE damage, and Eye Ore contributes extra base damage at a negligible HP cost. However, my personal favorite is the third recipe on the list (x3 Magmaite, x3 Fireite, x2 Rivalite, x1 Eye Ore), since it boosts Critical chances, which works exceptionally well with Gauntlets.
The fourth Gauntlets recipe on the list is noticeably weaker, but that’s because it isn’t intended for the late game. Instead, it’s the best mid-game Ironhand Gauntlets option, meant to boost your overall stats without adding utility, something you can realistically include only in the late game using rare Legendary and Mythical Ores with Traits, such as Magmaite, Demonite, and Darkryte.
What Are the Best Runes for Gauntlets in the Forge
Of course, these builds would not be complete without Runes, which are the essential part of any piece of equipment in The Forge. As soon as you craft perfect Gunatlets, you will want to visit the Enhancer NPC and upgrade your weapon several times in order to unlock Rune slot(s). And what are the best Runes?
Exactly the same as with Katanas and Swords, because these are objectively the best Runes in The Forge. Specifically, we're talking about the Blast Chip and the Drain Edge. The Blast Chip creates an explosion that deals a percentage of your weapon damage as AoE around the target you hit, making it perfect for clearing groups of smaller enemies. The Drain Edge, meanwhile, provides a lifesteal effect. It is one of the few reliable sources of sustainability in the entire game.
The Forge Gauntlets Recipes FAQ
Placing exactly 9 Ores into the crucible gives you a 65% chance to craft Gauntlets. This is the highest possible chance, making 50 Ores the optimal amount to use.
Surprisingly, the best are the Ironhand Gauntlets. They are also the easiest ones to get.
Gauntlets don’t deal a lot of damage per hit, but their very fast attack speed is crucial in The Forge, where slow-attacking weapons can be interrupted easily. That speed is what makes them so effective.
The best runes are Blast Chip and Drain Edge.
