Heading into GW3 of Fantasy Premier League, managers are now starting to get a feel for their team and which players could star for them this season.
Manchester City kept another clean sheet and scored for fun as they beat Bournemouth 4-0 to stay top of the league, whilst Manchester United are currently the team to avoid in FPL, with Erik ten Hag's side beaten 4-0 by Brentford as they sit bottom of the table. Liverpool continued to struggle as they drew 1-1 against Crystal Palace, and Arsenal kept up their impressive form as they hit Leicester for four.
Now, with GW3 approaching and with some exciting fixtures lined up, FPL bosses must be careful when using their free transfer. GW3 sees Liverpool travel to Man United, Man City face Newcastle, Chelsea take on Leeds and Arsenal head down to Bournemouth.
So, what's the best team to pick for GW3? Here's Mirror Football's best FPL side for the third game week of the 2022/23 FPL season.
Mirror's best FPL Gameweek 3 squad
GW3 starting XI (3-4-3): Sanchez; Cucurella, Zinchenko, Cancelo; Martinelli, Salah (c), Maddison, Eze; Vardy, Kane, Toney.
Goalkeeper: Robert Sanchez (4.5m) - The Brighton 'keeper is currently only owned by just over 12% of FPL managers, and with a trip to West Ham this weekend, a potential clean sheet is on the cards. The Hammers remain the only team not to score this season, and the Seagulls' solid defensive set-up has proven hard to break down.
Defender: Marc Cucurella (£5.0m) - Cucurella marked his Chelsea debut with an assist in GW2, and for just £5.0m with an ownership of just over 10%, the Spaniard could be a good differential pick. Cucurella took four corners, registered two shots and attempted seven crosses against a good Spurs defence, so there's every chance he could grab a goal contribution against Leeds.
Defender: Oleksandr Zinchenko (£5.2m) - Apart from Man City, Arsenal have probably been the strongest team in the Premier League so far this season. After a big point haul in GW1 and Bournemouth Arsenal's next opposition, the Ukrainian could find himself hitting the double-digits once again.
Defender: Joao Cancelo (£7.1m) - Man City have looked incredibly impressive in their opening two goals, with Cancelo's side yet to concede a goal. In the last four meetings between Man City and Newcastle, Cancelo has registered 7+ FPL points each time, with his biggest haul being 18 points from City's 4-0 win at St. James' Park last season.
Midfielder: Gabriel Martinelli (£6.3m) - With two goals in the first two GWs, Martinelli has been very sharp in the Gunners' opening fixtures. For just £6.3m, the Brazilian is one of the better bargain midfield options available in FPL right now.
Midfielder: Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) - Despite Liverpool drawing their first two games, Salah has remained sharp and has been unlucky not to find himself on the scoresheet more this season. With a poor Man United side up next, Salah could thrive, with one goal for the Egyptian making him the all-time top goalscorer in this historic fixture.
Midfielder: James Maddison (£8.0m) - With one goal and one assist in his first two games, Southampton at home could be a great chance for Maddison to continue his good form. With ownership of less than 6%, the midfielder could be a big differential in GW3.
Midfielder: Eberechi Eze (5.5m) - Eze grabbed his first assist of the season in what was a superb performance against Liverpool, and we tip the Englishman to carry his momentum into Palace's clash with Aston Villa. Eze has excited fans in both of Palace's opening fixtures, and with Villa's Diego Carlos injured and Matty Cash a doubt, the 24-year-old could punish a weakened Villa defence.
Forward: Jamie Vardy (£9.5m) - Back to full fitness and selected by just over 4% of FPL players, Vardy could be the best differential pick of GW3. The striker has managed four goals and one assist in Leicester's last seven games against Southampton, with his record suggesting the forward could put in a good performance on Saturday.
Forward: Harry Kane (£11.4m) - After being transferred out by what seemed to be every manager who owned him after his GW1 blank, Kane repaid his faithful managers with a goal in GW2, and the England captain will be looking to continue his scoring record on Saturday. Spurs have scored 24 goals and won six of their last seven games at home, with Antonio Conte's side in a good position ahead of their clash with Wolves.
Forward: Ivan Toney £7.1m) - With Brentford entering their clash with Fulham on the back of a 4-0 win against Man United, momentum will be at an all-time high, and Toney could benefit the most. With one goal and two assists in his opening two games, Toney has also registered three bonus points, making him a perfect option for GW3.
