Hibs have confirmed Kevin Nisbet is out of this afternoon's fixture against St Mirren - but scans have found his hamstring issue to be the "best case scenario".
The striker was forced off in midweek against Ross County where he had to be subbed in the first half.
There were major fears of a significant injury layoff for Nisbet.
However, it has now been confirmed that he only suffered the "lightest of hamstring strains".
A club statement confirmed the major boost adding that Nisbet would not feature against St Mirren but could return for the match against Kilmarnock later this month.
The statement - on the club website - read: "Hibernian FC can provide the latest update on Kevin Nisbet who came off injured against Ross County in midweek.
"The Hibs striker pulled up mid-way through the first half against Ross County on Tuesday night.
"Scans have revealed that the injury is not as bad as first feared and the 25-year-old has the mildest of strains in his hamstring.
"That means Nisbet will miss today’s clash with St Mirren in Paisley, but he will likely be back fit for our home fixture with Kilmarnock later this month."
Hibs boss Lee Johnson was majorly relieved by the news as he looked ahead to a return to action for the striker.
He said: "This was the best case scenario as it was the lightest of hamstring strains.
"Nizzy has shown what a big player he is for us this season and we look forward to having him back playing shortly.”
