With the quality of phone cameras constantly improving, it can be easy forget where our humble photo-taking beginnings lie. All the way back in 1826, Joseph Nicéphore Niépce was the first person to permanently capture an image using a camera obscura in a sliding wooden box and a pewter plate.
From the Daguerreotype camera, to the very first Kodak in 1888, to the vintage 35mm cameras many photographers still prefer to use today, we’ve come a long old way in our ability to instantly capture, edit and post images to the world wide web. It’s pretty marvellous when you think about it.
