MUMBAI: Around 20-25 passengers had a miraculous escape after a BEST (Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport Undertaking) bus caught fire near Bandra signal junction on SV Road on Wednesday afternoon.
The driver noticed a spark in the gearbox and sounded the alarm after which the conductor quickly got the BEST bus evacuated and the fire spread across the vehicle.
The entire bus was in flames while the traffic on the busy road was impacted.
The BEST management has sent notice to the private contractor whose bus on wet lease had caught fire.
