A list of the best and worst hotel chains in the UK has been shared by consumer watchdog Which?. While some were praised for being "clean" and "comfy", others were called "run-down" and "dirty".
As the cost of living crisis worsens, people are looking for ways to cut back on costs. Hotels can be a costly expense, and so it's important to make sure you're getting your money's worth when staying in one.
That's why Which? asked 4,447 of its members, as well as the public, to share their experiences staying in hotel chains across the nation to compile a list of the best to worst.

Among the categories that hotels were rated on were "cleanliness" and "bed comfort". Guests also gave their verdict on food and customer service.
Looking at larger hotel chains, Premier Inn came in first place with an overall customer score of 78 per cent. Which? wrote: "Once again, Premier Inn has come top of our table of large hotel chains, with members' experiences confirming you'll get a clean and comfy bed, regardless of where in the country you check in.
"The budget chain was awarded five stars out of five for cleanliness and the description matching reality, with guests telling us that quality was 'pretty much guaranteed'."
Meanwhile, on the other end, Britannia hotels came in last place, with a customer satisfaction score of 56 per cent. Which? called it "run-down, dirty, and once again the worst hotel chain in the UK", and said the public should "avoid it at all costs".
Respondents to the survey paid an average of £89 per night for a Premier Inn stay, compared with £119 at a Britannia hotel. Britannia did not respond to a request for comment.
Read on for a rundown of the best and worst hotel chains you can stay in according to Which?. While the watchdog's research includes hotels from all across the UK, we have included only the hotels that have locations in Scotland.
