Officers searched the streets for a group thought to be carrying weapons after a disturbance in Newcastle.
Northumbria Police officers were called to the scene on Coach Lane in Benton at approximately 7.55pm on Thursday following concerns that a group of males were causing a disturbance.
A police helicopter was also heard overhead by residents in the vicinity as officers stepped up their search.
At this stage, no individuals have been arrested, Northumbria Police have confirmed.
A force spokesperson said: “At around 7.55pm yesterday (Thursday) police received a report a group of males were on Coach Lane, Benton causing a disturbance, and believed to be carrying weapons. Officers attended the scene and an extensive search of the surrounding area was carried out to try and locate the group."
The search for the group is still ongoing and officers from Northumbria Police have asked anyone who has any information which may assist with their investigation to come forward.
Their spokesperson added: “Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police via the ‘Tell us Something’ page on our website using log NP-20220825-0715.”
