The original habit tracker was a handmade grid
Franklin started this in 1726, when he was twenty years old. He listed 13 virtues he wanted to embody, temperance, silence, order, resolution, frugality, industry, sincerity, justice, moderation, cleanliness, tranquility, chastity, and humility. He wrote them into a small notebook he carried everywhere. Each week, he focused on one virtue. Each evening, he marked a black dot against any virtue he had violated that day. The goal was a clean page by the end of the week.
