The Bengaluru Metropolitan Region (BMR) is set for a major infrastructure expansion, with the Karnataka government planning nine integrated industrial townships, new housing and wider water and sewage networks over the next 10 years. The plan also includes 312 km of additional Metro lines, a 210-km ring road and a 270-km Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) network, a TOI report stated. Chief Minister DK Shivakumar outlined the plans while chairing a meeting of the advisory committee on BMR’s economic development on Monday. The infrastructure push is part of Karnataka’s broader target of taking the state economy to $1 trillion by 2047.
