BENGALURU: While slums and working-class settlements in east and southeast Bengaluru, where the last week's rain wreaked havoc, are limping back to normalcy with water receding, the residue it has left behind has sparked health concerns. The affected include sanitation workers, construction workers, domestic workers, waste-pickers, and other daily-wage labourers.
Multiple workers, activists working with them and NGO representatives TOI spoke with pointed to concerns of water-borne and vector-borne diseases such as cholera and malaria spreading fast as people return to these cheek by jowl settlements.
