Bengals tabbed as good fit for underrated free agent

The idea of the Cincinnati Bengals losing Tyler Boyd in free agency isn’t new and continues to pop up.

Naturally, some of the conversation then turns to how the Bengals might replace Boyd in free agency.

Pro Football Focus’ Brad Spielberger has one such suggestion for how the Bengals could do it — by going after Houston Texans wideout Noah Brown in free agency:

If the Bengals let Tyler Boyd depart in free agency, they still may have in-house replacements with 2023 rookies Charlie Jones and Andrei Iosivas, but Brown is a big-bodied inside/outside replacement who did very well this season to get open for C.J. Stroud on broken plays, which makes him a good fit with Joe Burrow who maximizes the scramble drills as well as anyone.

Yes, that’s the same Brown who caught seven passes for 172 yards against the Bengals this past season. Over 10 games, Brown had a career-high 567 yards and two scores, averaging better than 17 yards per catch.

Still, the point remains. A possible budget signing who can play on the boundary or in the slot and has the speed to stretch the field would fit what the Bengals want on the market.

As suggested though, this could always just be one of those things the Bengals choose to handle internally with the combo of Charlie Jones and Andrei Iosivas in 2024, too.
