Cincinnati Bengals pass-rusher Trey Hendrickson suffered what the team called a neck injury while ruling him out during Sunday’s win over the Carolina Panthers.
After the game, while coaches didn’t get into specifics, Hendrickson was in the locker room with his right arm in a sling, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Kelsey Conway.
Hendrickson has been the lone bright spot during a rough season for the Bengals defense and replacing his pass-rushing efficiency numbers would be difficult for any team.
Sam Hubbard spoke on a postgame show about the loss, via Jay Morrison of BengalsTalk.com: “We’re all thinking about him, we’re with him. He’s such an important part of our team and plays so hard. We’re just hoping for the best for him. He’s an integral part of this team to say the least.”
The Bengals could be in line to get former first-rounder Myles Murphy back from injured reserve over the next few weeks. But missing Hendrickson for an extended amount of time would be a setback for what has looked like the worst defense of the last three of four years in Cincinnati.
