In what projects to be a defense-heavy 2022 NFL draft for the Cincinnati Bengals, Wisconsin’s Matt Henningsen is a notable name to know.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Bengals had a late meeting with the defensive lineman just before the draft kicks off next Thursday.
A rare walk-on starter, Henningsen wowed scouts at his pro day. Those elite numbers paired well with his film, to say the least, where he looks like a huge-upside Day 3 guy.
Henningsen had just 8.5 sacks over the course of four seasons, but his program, resume and clear upside make him the ideal sort of Bengals target the team keeps pursuing.
While Henningsen might not be an immediate contributor in a rotation if the Bengals take him, he does seem like one of the more obvious targets for the team later in the draft.
Wisconsin DE Matt Henningsen caught NFL teams’ attention with a 37½-vertical jump at 6-3⅜, 289 pounds at his pro day, and he’s been busy since. The onetime walk-on visited the #Dolphins on Tuesday, is visiting the #Bengals today and had multiple private workouts in recent weeks.
