The Cincinnati Bengals did what many — at least locally — thought would never happen, announcing before the 2022 season that they have sold the naming rights to Paul Brown Stadium.
The Bengals struck a deal with local company Paycor to rename the site to Paycor Stadium, a 16-year deal that runs well past the team’s current lease with Hamilton County, which expires in 2026.
As one could expect, reactions ranged all over the place. Some loved that the team is doing whatever it takes to win, including adding more revenue via something once thought impossible. Others…not so much.
Here’s a broad look at all of the reactions to the major news.
Good old Paycor Brown Stadium, Who Dey!

If this is how we are able to pay our guys, name it whatever you want.

"Hi again everybody and greetings from the Jungle at Paycor Stadium."
Sounds good to me…and I've got a few days to work on it before Friday night at 6:00 when our Bengals Radio Network coverage begins. https://t.co/loLSckT97g— Dan Hoard (@Dan_Hoard) August 9, 2022

The Bengals have been the organizational embodiment of “strike while the iron is hot” this offseason.
New sponsorships EVERYWHERE. Gates, practice fields, naming rights, etc. Taking full advantage of the Super Bowl run that made them as popular as any moment in thier history.

Paycor Stadium is a million times less dumb than Acrisure Stadium https://t.co/RzTrrnpQuH

New AFC North stadium name rankings
1. Paycor

I don't hate Paycor Stadium. Could've been a lot worse.
— Andrew Hall 🐅 (@AndrewHallFF) August 9, 2022
Ugh. I don't like the name changing. But Paycor Stadium isn't a terrible name. Good thoughts by Paul here. If it helps keep everyone here, then go for it. https://t.co/Edarynl697

Stadiums used to have names that meant something history of the franchise or area it’s surrounded by. Now they are all banks, and corporations. I get the deal needed to be done but seriously people are still going to call it PBS except announcers lol #whodey pic.twitter.com/x7KyazgiuS

The Jungle fits perfect as Paycor Stadium.
PAY our core.
Couldn’t work any better, perfect sponsorship. #WhoDey #Bengals

Losers and narcs: “Who dey? More like who are they? What’s a Paycor? Paul Brown is turning in his grave.”
Great fans (like me): “I am going to drink 11 bud lights in the parking lot, walk to the stadium, and modernize my organization’s HR solutions.” https://t.co/Lg9mnEUD3K
