Vanessa Feltz’s ex Ben Ofoedu has admitted having some dark thoughts following their split in February after 16 years together.
Broadcaster Feltz, 61, shocked fans when she announced that they had broken up after she found out that he had been unfaithful.
While she was met with a flurry of support, he became the victim of online trolling and was painted as a villain by the media, both of which soon began to take a toll on his mental health.
At the same time, he was also still trying to come to terms with the death of his brother Roy, who passed away aged just 47 due to an “unexpected medical crisis”.
“I was just spiralling out of control. I just felt like everything was closing in on me, my whole life and with the trolling and the backlash I received from my split with Vanessa,” he told the MailOnline.
“I understand that people are just saying stuff and voicing their opinion, but I kind of understand now how people feel that there’s no way out and they just want to end it all.”
It got so bad that he says he started “waking up and dreading what the next headline was going to be, absolutely dreading.”
His one saving grace he said was landing a starring role in the new London show, Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding.
Ofoedu is playing the character Vinnie Black in the immersive wedding experience and he told the publication that he is thankful that is has give him a new “focus” away from any personal drama.
