Beloved former Edinburgh antique shop goes on sale in plush neighbourhood

A little shop that was once a beloved local antique store in Edinburgh has gone up for sale.

Along Comiston Road in Morningside many locals will recognise the green exterior and wooden panelling of the store that was run as an antique shop by Helen Sprott.

Like an Aladin's cave, the shop was a treasure trove of delights, from books to trinkets, and furniture. Helen owned the shop since 1978 and picked up items at house clearances, which she sold in her shop for a commission.

Locals will remember how the little store made up of a ground and basement floor in a tenement building was packed full of items that Helen was usually spotted sitting outside with her dog and objects for sale on the pavement.

However, sadly due to ill health, the shop pulled down the shutters five years ago for the final time.

Now the store is up for sale for offers over £120,000. Although looking worn, the green facade is a nod to the Morningside institution.

The advert from Jardine Phillips LLP as advertised on ESPC adds: "The property fronts Comiston Road, one of the main arterial routes into the city from the south. The area is a desirable Edinburgh suburb with several high value residential properties nearby in Morningside and the Braids. There are excellent public transport links serving Comiston to all parts of the city."
