Belfast International Airport criticised for long early morning queues at arrivals

Belfast International Airport has been criticised after passengers "queued for an hour" after landing.

A passenger who arrived at the airport in the early hours of Sunday, April 24, has called the airport "a dump" after having to wait for an hour before reaching passport control following a flight.

They said there were long queues stretching back to the gate at 1.15am leaving passengers frustrated and tired.

The passenger said: "It’s not just flying out of this airport that sucks.

"We were left queuing for about an hour, backed up to the gates where we arrived at passport control getting into the International Airport at 1:15am on Sunday morning

"The place is a dump."

A Belfast International Airport spokesperson said, “Some passengers had a longer than expected wait at passport control on Saturday evening due to a number of flights arriving outside their scheduled slot.

"This resulted in higher numbers of passengers arriving and having to be processed through Immigration channels.“
