New Chelsea owners Boehly-Clearlake flexed their financial muscle once again as they signed Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhailo Mudryk in a deal that could be worth up to £88.6million. The 22-year-old signed an eight-and-a-half-year deal on Sunday, which could see him stay until he is 31 years old.
The Ukraine international was paraded around Stamford Bridge at half-time during his new side's 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace. The move comes after months of hints from the winger surrounding a potential switch to rivals Arsenal, who had three bids rejected by Shakhtar in January.
"I’m so happy to sign for Chelsea," Mudryk told the official website. "This is a huge club, in a fantastic league and it is a very attractive project for me at this stage of my career. I’m excited to meet my new team-mates and I’m looking forward to working and learning under Graham Potter and his staff."

Given the hectic nature of the transfer, with things moving quickly within the space of 24 hours, there has been plenty of talk around the behind the scenes aspect. Chelsea caught all of the details on video when setting up the announcement on their official website.
"It was Ronaldo, I liked his mentality," Mudryk was caught saying on camera, presumably talking about Cristiano Ronaldo when asked about footballing icons growing up. The Portugal international was prominent in the time in which Mudryk was growing up compared to Ronaldo Nazario, who was at the end of his career.
It's mentality that appears to play a large part for the winger, who has a tattoo that reads, "talent ain't enough". Asked what the tattoo means, he explained: "It means hard work, it's why I'm here, it's a very strong thing."
It remains to be seen if he can reach the heights set by those around him as well as himself, however it could be a huge move for the Blues if he does manage that.
