The One Show viewers had a clear demand as Ben Shephard appeared on the show. The Good Morning Britain host swapped his usual early mornings for an early evening appearance on our screens as he chatted to Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas on the BBC One show.
He was on the famous green sofa to chat about his new book, Humble Heroes, which tells the stories of everyday people quietly doing amazing things for other people and their communities. Ben explained how it started off as an online callout during the coronavirus pandemic but has now turned into a book full of heart-warming stories.
But before talking about his latest project, Ben revealed his secret degree that came as a surprise to the hosts and fellow guest, Strictly Come Dancing star, Shirley Ballas.

As Alex and Jermaine teased that their two guests on Wednesday night's show had something in common, Alex, 45, said: "Queen of Latin dance here, but also, King of the dance." But a confused Ben, 47, replied: "King? King of the dance? Which dance are you talking about?" Alex said: "Apparently you have a background in dance."
This lead to Ben revealing he has a degree in contemporary dance and was soon being quizzed on a possible Strictly stint. Jermaine asked: "You're sat next to Shirley, a Strictly question. Are we going to see you on it at some point?" Before he could respond, Shirley answered: "Yes," but Ben went on to explain why his dancing degree might not actually make him the perfect candidate for the hit dance contest.
"My degree in contemporary dance was very much about running around, physical theatre, getting naked, covering yourself in soy sauce. That sort of stuff," Ben replied to which a stunned Jermaine said: "What?" GMB star Ben continued: "I know JJ, it was a great three years. Me and 16 girls in leotards and tights. You can see why I enjoyed it!"
The dad-of-two added: "So it was that rather than having any hips that move in anyway that is vaguely Latin." But Strictly's head judge thought that helped his case, joking: "Well if you're running around with that sauce all over you then I think that'll go down rather well for the audience."
A little bit later, Ben was encouraged up on to his feet to showcase his moves alongside Shirley. "Now you'll see why I've never done Strictly now," the presenter quipped but Shirley was rather impressed. And so were viewers. @AmyJoanne__ tweeted: "Ben got the moves! Sign him up for strictly next year! #theoneshow." @suzysasha echoed: "#TheOneShow Get Ben on @bbcstrictly!"
