BBC Scotland political editor breaks 10 ribs in cycling accident

BBC Scotland's political editor was in a cycling accident last week and broke 10 ribs.

Glenn Campbell shared before and after pictures of his cycling journey on social media on Monday.

There was an outpour of support for the Beeb's politics journalist in Scotland.

He followed the tweet up with a thanks to NHS Lothian for their care.

He wrote: "Fell off my bike at speed on a bumpy East Lothian hill road. Spent a week in hospital with ten broken ribs. Back on my feet thanks to amazing [NHS Lothian] major trauma team. Still very sore but on the mend"

Nick Eardly, a BBC political correspondent in Westminster, wrote: "Blimey Glenn, looks painful. Hope you’re on the mend and we see you back before long."

David Clegg, editor of the The Courier, tweeted: "Ouch! Have a speedy recovery chief" and Daily Record political editor Paul Hutcheon also gave Campbell his support.

Michael Marra, an MSP from Dundee, wrote: "Get well soon, Glenn."
