If you have a Call The Midwife shaped void in your life, following the end of another series of the much loved drama, you can now go on a tour of locations featured in the show.
For the last decade, Call The Midwife has been one of the highest rated shows on the BBC, with each new series and the annual Christmas specials all pulling in millions upon millions of viewers. The most recent run of Call The Midwife, its 12th series, had it all; from a hard-hitting racism storyline to teenage pregnancy issues and a finale that saw popular character Trixie Franklin marry beau Matthew, after the tragic death of an expectant mother.
The ruler of the roost as far as Sunday night dramas are concerned, Call The Midwife has already been confirmed for another two series, meaning that, while fans of ITV 'rival' Vera are unsure of its future, MIdwife devotees can rest easy in the knowledge that the nuns of Poplar aren't going anywhere yet.
They are set to make a return to BBC One in December but, before then, you can step into the shoes of the Nonnatus House favourites by booking up to go on a Call The Midwife location tour.
The tours, which can be booked HERE, are run by The Historic Dockyard Chatham in Kent and the company behind CTM, Neal Street Productions and will run until October.
A description of the tours online reads: "Walk in the footsteps of Nurse Trixie Franklin, Sister Julienne and Dr Turner and explore where the real drama happens.
"Along the tour you’ll recognise the cobbled streets and buildings of ‘Poplar’ plus iconic locations such as the Grosvenor Hotel and ‘Chummy’s Hill’, where Nurse Noakes famously learnt to ride her bike. With a picture book to help trigger your memories, you’ll see just how Neal Street Productions transform 400 year old Chatham dockyard into to East London."
Each tour, costing £27 for adults and £22 for children, is led by a guide dressed up as a midwife and culminates with a look at an exclusive Call the Midwife exhibition containing set, props and costumes.
