BBC presenter Richie Anderson announced as Strictly Come Dancing competitor

Strictly Come Dancing has announced presenter Richie Anderson as their third dancer.

The next series of the ballroom competition is expected to drop in Autumn but Strictly has already started rolling out its competitors. Making the announcement on Twitter, the show announced presenter Richie Anderson as their third dancer.

Best known for presenting BBC Radio 2's Breakfast show, he also travelled to Turin for the Eurovision Song Contest to cover the event for his station. A regular on the One Show, Richie also found himself commenting the Queen's Jubilee Celebrations.

Upon being announced, Richie said: "This is a dream come true! I cannot wait to get in those sparkles and sequins and shimmy across the most famous dance floor in the world! Strictly is the ultimate feel-good show, as soon as I hear that iconic theme tune it’s just pure escapism. I’m going to have to cancel my legendary Strictly launch night kitchen party that I throw every year, I’m sure my friends and family will understand. It’s also a massive honour to be part of an all-male dance partnership, it’s so important we have that inclusion on such a huge show."

Coronation Street stars Kym Marsh and Will Mellor were announced as competitors yesterday. The show has made huge changes in the build-up to its official return after lockdown rules were lifted. The jarring windows between judges will be removed and fans of the show will be invited back to the ballroom as a live studio audience will return.
