The hosts of BBC Breakfast and its viewers got more than they bargained for this morning when a man suddenly appeared on screen in his pants. Jon Kay and Sally Nugent were back at the helm of the BBC One news programme on Monday morning (October 31) and they were soon left in shock.
As they sat on the famous red sofa in the comfort of their Salford-based studio, they were chatting to one of their guests, Gary McKee, with was out and about in Cleator Moor, Cumbria, amid his incredible challenge.
Mr McKee has run a marathon every day this year and is doing it to raise money for cancer charities, in memory of his late father while also raising awareness for cancer research.

But as Jon and Sally discussed his amazing achievement, they became distracted by an unexpected visitor who probably didn't know they were being broadcast to the nation taking their bins out.
As Mr McKee began to talk about his plan for his marathon today, Jon began to laugh and said: "Er, there's someone in their swimming trunks behind you, I'm not sure what's going on there." Sally tried to explain to their guest what was going on, saying: "Gary, look over your left shoulder!"
But he didn't turn around in time and she added: "He's gone. I think someone was just about to put his bin out in his pants! We've all done it..." Jon then joked that it "sounded like a good reason to run in the opposite direction" before they thanked him for his time and cut back to the studio. Following the sudden end to the interview, Jon told viewers that they will "catch up with Gary's story in the weeks and months ahead".
However, Jon and Sally were trying to stifle their laughter but failed to prevent their giggles as Jon pondered "what was going through that poor guy's mind" while Sally laughed over the fact the mystery man "ran away" once he'd seen the camera crew at the end of the road.
In a bid to save them the show cut to a BBC iPlayer advert. Meanwhile, BBC Breakfast viewers were commenting on social media. @wanna_be_bond tweeted: "What in the holy hell is going on here? Who goes to put the bin out in swimming trunks??? #BBCBreakfast."
@paulomurphio said: "That was funny the guy lurking around in the background #BBCBreakfast." @vonsmittle wrote: "LMAO this guy in the background #BBCBreakfast," alongside a clip of the moment.
Sally was back on the show after being replaced last week. Victoria Valentine, who regularly presents news bulletins for the broadcaster, had been stepping in for the show's main host and up until Wednesday's show (October 26) had spent much of her presenting solo as Jon headed to Downing Street to bring the latest on Rishi Sunak becoming the new Prime Minister. And BBC viewers were impressed with Victoria taking over the show, with many calling for her to be made a permanent fixture
