BBC Breakfast hosts Sally Nugent and Jon Kay issued a sweet statement to former co-star Dan Walker following the crash which left him lucky to be alive.
The two hosts were discussing the latest headlines from across the UK on Tuesday morning when they discussed their former colleague Dan's accident.
"On the BBC News website, here’s a familiar face everyone," Sally, 51, said. "Dan Walker, our Dan was injured after his collision with a car while he was cycling yesterday."
She continued: "Now, he’s OK, he tweeted photos with the message he’s glad to be alive. Later on he confirmed he’d obviously been checked out and had amazing help from the ambulance service and the NHS and he is now home resting, he’s OK."
Jon added: "It sounds like he was out cold for 20 minutes or so wasn’t he? Get well soon Dan."
This comes after the former Strictly Come Dancing star was rushed to hospital on Monday morning after being hit by a car while riding his bike. The Channel 5 news presenter shared a picture in the back of an ambulance with serious facial injuries and said he's "glad to be alive".
He wrote: "Bit of an accident this morning. Glad to be alive after getting hit by a car on my bike,’ the 45-year-old wrote after snapping some selfies in the ambulance. Face is a mess but I don’t think anything is broken. Thanks to Shaun and Jamie for sorting me out and the lovely copper at the scene."
The TV personality looked unrecognisable in the bloodied and bruised photos, and shared a further update alongside photos of himself giving a thumbs up, his smashed watch, ripped jeans and a selfie from the hospital.
He added: "Blown away by all the lovely messages. Thank you. Just got home from hospital. Battered and bruised but - amazingly - nothing broken.
"Very thankful to still be here. I have no memory of anything and just remember coming round on the tarmac with paramedics & police around me."
