BBC Breakfast host gives birth as news announced live on air

Nina Warhurst BBC Breakfast Sally Nugent Jon Kay

BBC Breakfast presenter Nina Warhurst has given birth to her third child.

The 42-year-old only went on maternity leave last week but colleagues Jon Kay and Sally Nugent shared the happy news live on air on Monday.

Sally said: "Some very, very happy news to share about our colleague Nina Warhurst. We said goodbye to her not very many days ago as she went off on maternity leave. "She has welcomed a very healthy, beautiful baby girl."
