BBC announce Laura Kuenssberg to take over Sunday morning show

The BBC has announced that Laura Kuenssberg will be the new official presenter of the broadcaster's Sunday morning politics show. She will begin her new role when the show is relaunched in September, accompanied by a new set, title, title music and format.

Currently, Kuenssberg is the BBC political editor, a role she has been in for the previous seven years. She will leave the role after covering the local elections due to take place in May.

Kuenssberg says: “I couldn’t be more delighted. For decades Sunday morning has been the moment to explore the events that shape us and to challenge and listen to our politicians.

“It’s an honour to take the chair for that conversation in the 2020s.” Interim Director of BBC News, Jonathan Munro, says: “Laura’s the perfect host for our flagship weekend politics show – she’s an engaging presenter and a razor-sharp political interviewer, and she knows exactly which questions audiences want answered.”

BBC Chief Content Officer Charlotte Moore says: “Laura’s one of the BBC’s biggest talents and I’m delighted she’s becoming the new face of Sunday mornings. I’m very much looking forward to seeing how she makes the show her own.”

She will be taking the role from Sophie Raworth, who has been presenting the Sunday Morning show since January. Jonathan Munro adds: “I’d like to thank Sophie Raworth for stepping in to present the show this year, alongside anchoring the BBC news bulletins at Six and Ten o’clock . She’s doing a fantastic job, ranging from robust interviews with presidents and prime ministers to moving reports on the flight from Ukraine, and I’m delighted she’s continuing the role until the summer.”

Previously, the political show was presented by Andrew Marr who performed the role for 16 years before leaving the BBC at the end of 2021 - he took over the position from David Frost.
