In the four weeks following President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race, both political parties have significantly ramped up their advertising efforts, collectively spending close to $300 million on TV and digital ads. During this period, Democrats have outspent Republicans, with a total expenditure of approximately $173 million compared to the Republicans' $119 million.
Seven key battleground states have been the primary focus of this advertising blitz, with a total of over $212 million being poured into these states. Pennsylvania stands out as the most targeted state, with ad spending reaching $70.6 million.
Interestingly, despite the overall Democratic spending lead, Republicans have taken the lead in ad spending across the seven battleground states since Biden's exit, with a total of $109 million compared to Democrats' $99 million.
Breaking down the ad spend in other states, Michigan saw $38.1 million in advertising, followed by Georgia with $33.3 million, Wisconsin with $26 million, Arizona with $22.7 million, North Carolina with $12.4 million, and Nevada with $9.4 million.
