Yankees star Aaron Judge announced his deal to sign with the Jordan Brand on Friday. And the announcement came with Judge recreating an iconic picture that Michael Jordan made famous 25 years ago.
Judge sat down with his hand to his face, rocking a Jordan brand ring on his finger. The photo was meant to recreate Jordan’s “6 Rings” portrait that was taken after MJ won his sixth and final championship in 1998.
Here’s the side-by-side of Judge’s announcement with Jordan’s photo.

Judge, who is one of the best players in baseball, but has never won a championship, naturally got crushed for the portrait that was posted on social media.
Baseball fans couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

What a horrendous idea.

Whoever advised Aaron Judge to do this is out of their mind. Between the team he’s on, the history of that team, how poorly they’re playing right now and the lack of success in recent years, this is just mind boggling.
Hilarious as a Red Sox fan though! https://t.co/oryDEydeRC
A Yankee hater directed this photo shoot so Judge would get a billion memes made about this is the only explanation https://t.co/GFj3oMRUIs

I suppose whoever OK’d the marketing move for Judge probably wishes they could have this one back.
Alas, this photo will go down in history, but perhaps for all the wrong reasons.
