JAIPUR: Starting at a slow pace, only 33 beneficiaries in the age group of 18-59 year were administered the paid Covid booster dose on Sunday at private hospitals across the state. All the 33 doses were given in Jaipur, while in the remaining 32 districts, not a single beneficiary received the paid booster dose for the age group.
A senior health department official said, "The Covid booster vaccination started across the state from Sunday. Across the state, 33 persons received the booster doses, after receiving the second Covid dose nine months ago. The Centre has allowed booster doses for beneficiaries from 18-59 year to boost immunity against Covid. It will also help the beneficiaries travelling to countries which are demanding booster dose certification."
Since it was Sunday, a lot of Covid vaccination centres at private hospitals remained closed. "Our vaccination centre remains closed on Sundays so we will start the booster dose for 18-59 year beneficiaries from Monday," said an official of a private hospital.
The number of doses including the first, second and booster doses administered in the state from January 2021 till date has gone up to 13.3 crore including 5.58 crore first dose, 4.58 crore second doses and 15.2 lakh booster doses.While neighbouring states, Gujarat, Haryana and Delhi reported slight increase in Covid cases, Rajasthan reported just 11 cases in the past 24 hours. Out of those, seven cases were reported from Jaipur, while one case each was reported from Ajmer, Bikaner, Jodhpur and Dausa.
The number of active cases in the state was 76 as 14 more persons recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours. The state's overall tally of Covid cases increased to 12,83,101 cases with 11 persons testing positive for the virus. However, no death was reported. State's toll stands at 9,552.
