Barring any legal troubles, Deshaun Watson isn’t going anywhere

The drama surrounding Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson on and off the field has once again reached national attention in just the first week of the NFL season.

In the latest episode of The Athletic’s “Scoop City” podcast, Senior NFL Insider Dianna Russini explained why Deshaun Watson has a longer leash than some might think:

“I can tell you that the mood in the building is not panicked. Ownership has given the Cleveland Browns everything they possibly could use and need to develop him.”

She also describes her Browns tight end David Njoku, who explained how the faith in Watson’s ability is still very strong within the locker room and organization as a whole.

Watson and the Browns had a rough start to the beginning of the season after they lost to the Dallas Cowboys 33-17. In a game that was
declared the FOX Game of the Week and had plenty of attention, Deshaun Watson once again failed to step up when the offense needed him most. He managed to pass for 169 yards, 1 touchdown, and 2 interceptions on 45 passing attempts. Despite his tough start to the 2024 season, the Browns and their locker room appear committed to achieving the goals they’ve set for the season.

It appears that barring any legal troubles, the Cleveland Browns are not ready to give up on the huge investment they’ve placed in their starting quarterback.
