Barclays announces 10 more bank closures this year - see full list

Barclays has announced a further 10 bank branch closures for this year in yet another blow for the UK high street.

The closures will see nine branches in England close and one branch in Scotland.

The latest announcements will see their doors shut by the end of September this year.

Three branches in London are set to shut, with others in Leominster, Cambridge, and Wellingborough.

The Scottish site set to close will be in St Andrews.

Overall, 132 Barclays branches are to close across the UK this year.

This is the second round of closures announced by the bank in the last month.

In May, it announced plans to shut 12 more branches across England and Wales with these closures set for August.

Last month's announcement confirmed site closures in Birmingham, Windsor, Worksop, Biggleswade and Frome to name just a few.

The news of further closures will be disappointing news for those who depend on face-to-face banking support.

Barclays currently runs pop-up sites and is opening new "banking pods" which are semi-permanent sites that can be moved to different towns and locations based on demand.

It currently has 200 pop-up sites and has announced plans to increase this number by another 70, while it also has ten of its "banking pods".

The bank also runs an educational and support van service for people who need financial advice on topics such as saving for a home or setting up a business.

You can find your nearest service on the Barclays website.

Barclays is not the only banking giant to be closing its physical branches.

Yesterday a raft of closures was announced for Lloyds, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland branches.

These specific sites would start to close from September this year until May 2024.

You can find the Daily Mirror's full list of all bank branch closures set for 2023 here.

Last month, the Mirror also published an interactive tool which shows you all the bank branches that are closing near you.

A Barclays spokesperson said: “As visits to branches continue to fall, we need to adapt to provide the best service for all our customers.

"Where there is no longer enough demand to support a branch, we maintain an in-person presence though our Barclays Local network, live in over 200 locations, based in libraries, town halls, mobile vans and our new banking pods.

"We also support access to cash with our cashback without purchase service, 24-hour deposit-taking ATMs and by working alongside the Post Office and Cash Access UK.”
