Thousands of Barclaycard customers have been unable to use the contactless option on their credit card following a technical glitch.
According to the credit card company, the 'technological issue' began in March this year, and many of the companies 10 million users have take to social media to ask what's going on.
Barclaycard has told Moneysavingexpert.com that it has no plans to compensate people for the inconvenience as there has been no financial loss, but that it's "working hard to fix the issue". The problems seems to be when customers try to make contactless payments, which should allow customers to make a purchase of up to £100 without using a PIN.
Barclaycard said customers will be contacted once the problem has been fixed, but in the meantime, if you're a Barclaycard customer and your contactless card isn't working, then make sure you know your PIN as you'll probably have to use it.

Unhappy customers have taken to Twitter to complain about the glitch.
@robinmckelvie said: "My contactless hasn’t worked since March and your complaints team just called to say tough and no resolution in sight. And issues with your social media team are ‘just the way it is’. Telephone queue is ‘Covid’. Complete lack of customer service. V poor show guys," while @nicolaevo asked: "What is going on with contactless not working? It’s been about a month now and every time I try to pay contactless it declines and I have to put my card in."
@storeyboy10 said: "Been a customer for only a few months - contactless never works. Had 2 brand new cards - it works for a few days then stops. Absolute joke. All my other cards are fine and never have an issue!!" and @briandsloan said: "It would have been nice to have some more warning about the problems you’re currently having with contactless payments. We’ve just had a very stressful experience with several toll booths in Italy! Thank you!"
@Barclaycard said on Twitter: "Usually, when a customer has an issue with contactless, it means there is a damaged chip and we just need to replace the card. Recently, we’ve noticed a lot more customers with this issue which has prompted us to take a closer look. "
A spokesperson told Moneysavingexpert: "We are currently experiencing a technological issue impacting the contactless functionality for some Barclaycard cardholders. We are working hard to fix the issue, and a resolution is on track to be implemented in the coming days. All impacted customers have been contacted to make them aware, and we will contact them again once the issue is resolved. We would like to apologise to all impacted customers for the inconvenience caused."
