Barcelona establish transfer clause to ward off Man Utd and Liverpool interest

Barcelona wonderkid Gavi has no intention of leaving the Nou Camp this summer despite significant interest from Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City, according to reports in Spain.

The Premier League trio have been keeping close tabs on the 17-year-old's contract situation as Barca frantically attempt to tie one of their most-prized assets down to a long-term extension. Gavi has one year remaining on his current deal and, crucially, this contains a €50million (£43m) release clause.

Given he is one of the hottest properties in European football, the opportunity to table this sum and directly enter into talks with the youngster's representatives is an attractive one for suitors. Gavi has made 46 senior appearances for Barca ahead of his 18th birthday this August, while he also has 10 senior Spain caps to his name.
