Barbados-born man, 62, faces deportation after 50 years in Britain over a past criminal conviction

A 62-year-old London resident who moved to Britain from Barbados 50 years ago remains caught in legal uncertainty as the Home Office continues trying to deport him because of a past criminal conviction. Tony Hall arrived in the UK in 1976, aged 12, to join his family. Despite living in the country for 50 years, he has spent the past 14 years on a government deportation list. This status means he cannot work, rent a home, claim state benefits or open a bank account. According to a report by The Guardian, Hall's case shows that problems linked to the Windrush scandal remain unresolved. Thousands of Caribbean migrants and their descendants have received official documents confirming their right to live in Britain. However, Hall still faces deportation to an island where he has no surviving relatives and no memories of adult life.
