Internet, mobile phone and TV broadcast services were cut off in Bangladesh Friday after days of violent anti-government protests, which killed at least 28 people, according to local media. Student protests erupted weeks ago over a quota system for veterans of the 1971 liberation war and their descendants, and have spiralled, with students demanding justice for protest victims.

Internet and mobile services were cut off in Bangladesh on Friday, following days of violent protests over the allocation of government jobs, with local media reports saying at least 28 people had been killed this week.
