Ballymoney girl battles health issues to graduate despite being diagnosed with 'very rare' brain tumour aged 12

A young Co Antrim woman who was diagnosed with a "very rare" brain tumour aged 12 has battled through her health issues to graduate.

Lauren Monaghan from Ballymoney was encouraged by her consultants to leave education after her GCSEs but she was determined to prove them wrong and went on to study her A Levels before undertaking a Computer Science degree at Ulster University.

Lauren always took a keen interest in computers and maths, and loved learning about how computer programmes work.
