You can be nearly anyone in Baldur’s Gate 3, but the PC game’s lead writer Adam Smith said his favorite is one you might instantly think of. Smith made the comment in response to someone posting about how they enjoyed playing the Dark Urge, BG3’s murderous anti-hero, as a good guy as an interesting subversion of how most people were playing him.
Smith said that’s his favorite way to get through the game as well.
The Dark Urge lives up to his name in Baldur’s Gate 3. Where the other origin characters have dream guardians and fairly normal worldviews, the Dark Urge has, well, dark urges.
My favourite playthrough is a variation of this one. https://t.co/jEVR8cRPsx

You could kick or be kind to the squirrel in the Emerald Grove, for example, but the Dark Urge could kill it – not even with spells. Just with their bare hands.
Consistently giving in to the urges takes your character down some dark and bloody roads where even your closest companions don’t survive – because you kill them. Brutally.
The ending on that dark route is certainly something, but you can also play as Dark Urge fighting the urges at every turn and trying to do good in the world. Aside from the roleplaying potential there, the less murderous route has a significant effect on the story as well, which is probably not surprising given how deep the consequences of your choices are in this game.
It’s certainly not the easiest route to get through, nor does Larian recommend it as your first. If you’re looking for something a bit different, though, it’s definitely worth giving the Dark Urge a try.
