Baker Mayfield rooting for Jayden Daniels and Commanders

The Washington Commanders (10-5) host the Atlanta Falcons (8-7) in the Week 17 edition of Sunday Night Football. Washington clinches a playoff spot with a win, while the Falcons look to hang onto first place in the NFC South.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the team most directly impacted by Sunday night’s game. After Sunday’s win over the Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay improved to 9-7. The Bucs are now in first place in the NFC South by a half-game over the Falcons, pending the outcome of Sunday night’s game.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield passed for 359 yards and five touchdowns in the win. After the game, Mayfield spoke with Evan Washburn of CBS Sports and made it clear who he was rooting for on Sunday night.

“Big Jayden Daniels fan tonight,” Mayfield said. “Rooting hard, that’s it.”

This is Daniels’ first appearance on Sunday Night Football and his third prime-time game this season. Washington is 1-1 in prime-time games, with a win over the Bengals and a loss to the Eagles.
