Great British Bake Off star Laura Adlington has proudly worn a bikini for the first time, defying body shaming trolls as she oozed confidence in Mexico.
Posting a snap of herself on Instagram, Laura, who is Rebecca Adlington 's sister, donned a leopard print bikini as she stood on the beach and beneath the sunshine.
"Today I wore a bikini on the beach for the first time ever," she penned on Instagram.
"And, for the first time in my entire life, I can honestly say I feel at peace with my body, instead of at war with it.
"It’s not a perfect body but it’s mine, and I want to feel the sun on it."
Fans and friends of the star were quick to comment on the joyous post that has now garnered more than 70,000 likes.
One person said: "Yasss!!! I love this and well done!!"
Another penned: "It’s completely perfect, because it’s yours! And there’s nothing more perfect than that. So happy for you xxx."
A third person commented: "This is just pure joy," while a fourth said: "T hat smile! That pride! So much love for life! You are an inspiration!!!"
While a fifth person wrote: "Yas Laura! You look great! Well done for reminding us anyone can wear a bikini regardless of what society says is a ‘beach body’ I did the same on my last holiday and I didn’t give a t*ss if people were offended by my body!"
Just last week, the popular baker took to social media to reveal that she was building up the confidence and gearing up to wear a swimsuit in public.
At the time she said: "I'm feeling a bit nervous today about being in a swimming costume around the pool, but I’m trying to remind myself that holidays are a privilege, and that I deserve to be here and take up space.
"I’ve even packed a couple of bikinis!! I’ve told myself it doesn’t matter if I wear them. But I’m hoping I can build up the courage to as I have never worn one in all my 32 years."
