BAFTAs 2022: Alison Hammond joined by rarely-seen son Aiden on red carpet

Alison Hammond's teenage son joined her for a rare red carpet appearance at Sunday's BAFTA Awards.

The This Morning presenter attended the ceremony held at Royal Festival Hall with 17-year-old Aiden as the duo stepped out together for the first time in a while.

Alison, 47, looked glamorous as ever in a floor-sweeping black gown, which featured a stunning turquoise pattern.

The bubbly Brummie presenter wore her dark hair down in loose waves and appeared to be happier than ever as she gave photographers a twirl.

Meanwhile, Aiden looked very smart in an all-black jacquard detailed suit and studded loafers as he proudly posed beside his famous mum.

Alison has received a nomination in the entertainment performance category, alongside the likes of Graham Norton and Joe Lycett.

In March, Alison told her loyal followers she had been nominated for an award.

She wrote online: "I mean a @bafta Nomination was not the first thing I thought today was going to bring , I am absolutely BUZZING!

"Our worth should not be measured with awards and trophies, however I have felt how heavy a Bafta is and would really love it to keep my kitchen door open."

On the red carpet, Alison spoke to Virgin Radio's Vick Hope.

The presenter asked her: "How does the nomination feel, is it like a shock?" as Alison replied: "It's a lovely nomination, I say it all the time though, no one should be defined by awards and things like that, but it’s nice to be recognised isn’t it?

"You know, I’ve been in the industry 20 years now, so to be recognised, just to be nominated is an absolute pleasure."

She added: "You know, there’s been a lot of graft."

Speaking about her son, Aiden, Alison concluded: "I’ve got my son here today, you know, with this, with working in television and stuff comes sacrifices, you know, I haven’t always been been there for my son, so this is a wonderful recognition, and I’m so honoured that the BAFTA’s nominated me really."
