Viewers of the BBC BAFTA Awards were left confused as the audience appeared to snub the cast of Gogglebox. The Channel 4 show won the award for Best Reality and Constructed Factual.
Gogglebox pipped The Dog House, Married at First Sight UK and RuPaul's Drag Race UK to the award. And several cast members, including stars Marcus, Mica and Lee, as well as show creator Stephen Lambert appeared on stage to collect the award.
But as Lee stepped up to the podium to speak, fans could not help but notice the somewhat muted reaction to the win, reports BirminghamLive. As the camera panned over the audience, several people were visibly not clapping.
When Lee made a joke about a duck, referring to an x-rated clip the Gogglebox families were shown, there was a moment of silence as no one laughed. Viewers took to Twitter to comment. Bethan @bethanlooms tweeted: "The audience seem quite snobby not wanting to clap for Gogglebox winning at the #Baftas LOL"
Twitter user @LadyFerny commented: "Snobs not clapping for gogglebox." Meanwhile, Juli @JuliSavage666 wrote: "Duck mention, down like a lead balloon."
Lisa also noticed the frosty reception, adding: "#BAFTAS that went down like a lead balloon ... And they walked off quickly... Hmmmm."
