Kemi Badenoch quizzed Keir Starmer on The Independent’s exclusive revelation Peter Mandelson had failed security checks prior to his appointment as US ambassador, as the prime minister faced a bruising Commons showdown.
The Independent’s political editor David Maddox put claims Mandelson had failed UK Security Vetting checks to No 10 last September, despite Downing Street claims ministers had no prior knowledge until last week.
Addressing six key questions to the prime minister today, Badenoch asked: “These allegations were on the front page of a national newspaper, and yet No 10 did not deny the story - why?”
