Baby killer Savannah Brockhill given £10k taxpayers' money before '£9k Rolex splurge'

Baby killer Savannah Brockhill was given more than £10,000 of taxpayers' money for a lawyer before reportedly going on to splurge £9,000 of her own money on a Rolex.

Savannah Brockhill, 28, was jailed for a minimum of 25 years for the murder of her ex's toddler Star Hobson.

Star's mum Frankie Smith, 20, was convicted of allowing her daughter's death and jailed for just eight years.

Evil Brockhill was given £10,290.24 to pay for a solicitor, the Ministry of Justice confirmed to The Sun.

While the money did not go directly to Brockhill but was directly received by lawyers, after spending just a month in jail, the murderer spent a separate £9,000 on a luxury watch and has been bragging about life in her cushy cell, the publication claims.

Brockhill has her own room in prison with a TV and ensuite, as well as a pastoral view from her window.

Prison sources also say Brockhill now has a twisted fan club of people who write to her with messages of support.

A jail source told The Daily Star Sunday : "It's a sad reflection on society that some members of the public enjoy writing to a killer like this - and even reward her with gifts. A lot are from admirers.

"It beggars belief really, but Savannah is said to be loving the attention and almost thinks of herself as a celebrity and prison pin-up."

Brockhill, a boxer who called herself "number one psycho" also bragged she had "buried three more babies" in sick jokes to her fellow cellmates.

One said they had never seen Brockhill shed a tear after her conviction for the murder of Star - who died with catastrophic injuries.

The judge at the seven-week trial at Bradford Crown Court before Christmas had observed Star was "caught in the crossfire" of the narcissistic, on-off relationship between the couple who were supposed to be looking after her.

The tot's "short life was marked by neglect, cruelty and injury", said Mrs Justice Lambert, addressing the two defendants sitting apart in the dock.

Star died after Brockhill kicked or punched her in the stomach with all the force of a crashing car, according to a medical expert.

While trying to save her life, doctors also found she had suffered other serious injuries, including fractures to the skull and ribs, and a twice-fractured leg.

Brockhill and Smith would force the child to face the wall despite being so weak she could hardly stand while filming their abuse of her.

Brockhill put music to a clip of Star toppling off a chair and hitting her head and sending it to friends with the caption: "I've laughed so hard."

Under the early release system, Smith could be free by the time she's 24 - though the Attorney General has ordered a review of her sentence.

While her former partner - who she met on a night out in Bradford in 2019 - is planning to appeal her conviction on the grounds it was Smith who actually delivered the fatal strike on September 22, 2020, at her flat in Keighley, West Yorkshire.

A Ministry of Justice spokesman said: "Criminals don’t get a penny of legal aid, payments are means-tested and sent directly to solicitors and barristers who represent them to ensure a fair trial.

"Without legal representation, criminals could argue their trial was unfair and convictions could be quashed.."
