Baby girl in hospital after horror crash on major Scots road

A one-year-old girl is in hospital after a horrific car crash in the Lothians.

Road policing officers were called to the A68 near Fala, 15 miles south-east of Edinburgh, at around 9.45pm on Sunday April 30 following reports of a crash between a white Honda CR-V and a black Fiat 500X. Ambulance crews were called to transport both drivers and the youngster to hospital.

Police say the one-year-old girl was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People in the capital. The 27-year-old female driver of the Fiat and the 63-year-old male driver of the Honda were both taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Medics say the woman was taken to hospital as a "precaution". However, the Honda driver is in a "serious but stable" condition, according to a statement issued by Police Scotland on Monday.

The force is appealing to eyewitnesses, other drivers in the area and those with dashcam footage of either vehicle around the time of the crash to contact them as soon as possible.

Road Policing Sergeant Jill Kirkpatrick said: “This is a busy stretch of road and I’d like to speak to anyone who saw what happened.

"I’m also appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the vehicles beforehand, or who has relevant dash cam footage, to get in touch.”

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 3824 of 30 April, 2023.
