B&M's supermarket chain will be moving into a former Peacocks site in south Bristol. The move means there is no longer a branch of Peacocks in the inner city area, with the closest stores located in Hartcliffe, Emersons Green and Keynsham.
A temporary banner for Heron Foods, B&M's food subsidiary, has been draped across the Peacocks sign on the East Street building. The sign reads: "Your new Bedminster store opens on Thursday 25th August."
Work is now underway to transform the former clothes shop into a Heron Foods branch, which would make it the first branch to open in the city. There is also a B&M Express store in Shirehampton that sells Heron Foods products.

The food retailer is known for selling frozen and chilled food products, promising competitive prices and will be situated just around the corner from Iceland and Farm Foods, which both specialise in affordable frozen food products.
Planning documentation from Bristol City Council shows that Heron Foods has applied for a licence to permit the sale of alcohol on the site - 102-107 East Street, Bedminster. The application states that the company has applied to sell alcohol on Sundays between 10am and 4pm and Mondays to Saturdays 7am to 10pm.
The Peacocks fashion chain collapsed in 2021 as one of the many retailers that fell during the pandemic. While Peacocks was saved from administration only half - 200 out of 400 stores - were saved, and many more have closed since then including the Bedminster branch.
Bristol has lost its branch in The Galleries in Broadmead two years ago while outlets in Keynsham and Yate have also been threatened with closure since the company announced it was struggling.
