Ayrshire takeaway favourite for sale as owner 'reluctantly' puts on the market

A hot food favourite in Ayr is up for sale and on the lookout for an eatery entrepreneur to develop the business.

Long-established Peggy Sue’s, located on Crown Street in the North Harbour area of the town, is on the market for sale or lease with scope for business development.

The owners of the takeaway, which specialises in baked potatoes, filled rolls, soups and sandwiches, are said to be “reluctantly selling due to other business commitments” and would love for an enthusiastic owner to continue serving up delicious delights to scores of customers.

Peggy Sue’s is an end terrace single storey premises comprising of; a modern well-appointed hot food takeaway unit with staff counter and customer waiting area to the front, a fully fitted commercial kitchen to the rear, a large storeroom and staff W.C. facilities.

The hot food bar’s current trading hours are from 8am until 2pm Monday to Friday and 8am until 1pm on Saturdays, but agent Shepherd Chartered Surveyors say increasing operation hours is a possibility, alongside the potential to subscribe to a home delivery service.

The business is operated by the owner and two staff members with all catering equipment owned outright.

“The current owners have not subscribed to any food home delivery services.

“Peggy Sue’s offers a genuine opportunity to develop a long-established business which our clients are reluctantly selling due to other business commitments.”

The 604 sq. ft. property is available on a new full repairing and insuring lease at rental offers over £9,000 per annum.
