An Ayrshire school has opened up its donation shop early in a bid to keep kids looking their best at the Christmas dances.
Auchenharvie Academy has a huge selection of festive frocks and smart suits up for grabs.
The school shop, which also offers pre-loved and some brand-new school uniforms all year round, usually stores its selection of glamorous partywear for prom season.
However, as families across the region tighten their belts during the cost-of-living crisis, the thoughtful school decided to open the shop a little earlier than usual to help kids look and feel their best with a new Christmas party outfit.
North Ayrshire Council is commending the school for its forward thinking.
Councillor Alan Hill, Cabinet Member for Islands and Communities, said: “The council is acutely aware of the financial difficulties being experienced by residents this winter due to the current financial climate and rising household costs.
"I would like to thank everyone who has donated this year to our recent clothing drives at our libraries and to the Ayrshire businesses and those individuals who have generously donated to the Auchenharvie Academy clothing shop.
“Your generosity is so very much appreciated and will really bring a smile and sense of relief to young people affected by the Cost-Of-Living crisis this party season."
Other secondary schools in North Ayrshire have similar schemes in place.
