An early free-parking present has been gift wrapped by council chiefs ahead of Christmas.
Shoppers heading into Ayr over the festive season will be able to take advantage of two hours' free parking for the full month of December.
Council car parks will be offering up the freebie in a bid to encourage a retail boom at the busiest time of the year.
All on-street pay and display parking bays and select town council car parks will be part of the limited offer. Maximum stay limits will still apply.
The free parking has been introduced by South Ayrshire Council and Ayrshire Roads Alliance.
Councillor Bob Pollock, Economic Development Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said: “Hopefully this gesture will encourage people into the town to do their Christmas shopping and then for the subsequent sales.
"This will be a welcome boost for retailers as they seek to make the most of the Christmas period. Parking limits still apply, so please stick to the two hour limit and then pay for any additional parking.“
