Ayr United striker Dipo Akinyemi promises more goals to come after breaking duck for Honest Men

Dipo Akinyemi promised Ayr fans there's far more to come after bagging his first goals in United colours.

The new number nine led Friday night's dramatic comeback against Queen's Park with a double in the 3-2 Championship win.

And he reckons the second half show is just what Ayr need to get their season up and running after a tricky start in front of goal.

Akinyemi admitted: "When you don't score for a while, people want to get on your back.

"But I've been saying to the boys that once I score one, I'll get two or three and the goals will start to flow.

"That's exactly what I did last season and I want to repeat that again here at Ayr. I know what sort of player I am, I know I score goals and I back myself to do that."

Lee Bullen's half time rocket inspired Ayr to overhaul a 2-0 deficit against the Spiders with Akinyemi's 92nd miniute penalty completing the comeback.

The former Welling hitman said: "It was pretty intense at half time...I felt we we were playing well enough but it was the same old thing with us needing to take those chances.

"I felt the fans really gave us a second wind during that second half and it was a brilliant atmopshere.

"When they're jumping we are jumping and scoring goals releases a pressure and gets us going.

"You could see it in our play that once we start putting the ball in the back of the net we look a good side."
