A popular Ayr pet shop is to permanently close its doors.
Fishkeeper Ayr has announced the news on its social media feed, with a closing down sale set to take place.
The store trades within Dobbies Garden Centre, close to Holmston Roundabout, and has been a fixture of the outlet for many years.
Posting on their Facebook page, the pet shop said: "We are very sorry to announce that Fishkeeper Ayr will be closing permanently on Sunday 22nd January.
"Until then we are holding a closing down sale with 20% off everything in store.
"Thank you to all of our loyal customers for their support over the years. We hope to be able to see as many of you again in future at our other stores."
The news was greeted with sadness by customers.
Mary-Jane Macallese said: "So sad to hear this. Always enjoyed going into the store and getting great service from Brian and his team. You’ll be missed."
Shona Munro added: "So sorry to hear this. Very many thanks for all your advice and help over the years. You'll be sadly missed. All the very best for the future."
And Karen Hedge said: "Oh no! Sorry to hear this. Thank you so much for all your advice and the support you gave my son with his tank."
